Like any good and responsible building owner, you have decided to hire a janitor to work for you. Now the next thing that you are set to do is to shop for janitorial supplies that your janitor might need for your building. And thinking that “shopping” per se will be easy, you decided to just forego research and just breeze through the door.

But as you walked in inside your local store, you find that “breezing” and coming unprepared is not exactly wise because there are simply too many products to choose from. From the shelves alone, you get to have a display of different equipment ranging from vacuum, steam cleaners and polishers. As if that is not enough, on the other side, you also see a shelf full of products, of different brands and solutions that you may have never heard of in your life.

At that point, after seeing all those options, you cannot help but ask, how will you know which janitorial supplies are right for you?
Well, you do not have to panic because shopping for supplies can be a lot easier if you consider the following factors:

1. The structure and the type of building you have. This is important because this will tell you what specific equipment you need. For example, if you have a residential building with carpets for flooring, then you may need to invest in a wet and dry vacuum cleaning that is effective in cleaning your carpets in a jiffy. On the other hand, if you have an office building with wooden floors, then you should be getting floor polishers instead.

2. The type of cleaning solutions and supplies you need. Yes, the market offers you with a lot of alternatives but as much as you can, try to choose something that is environmentally friendly and those that do not contain VOCs. To identify which products are those exactly, just look for a “green seal” on their bottles and containers.

3. The last point of consideration is the price. Note that janitorial supplies can cost a lot of money. So before you decide on buying something, make sure that you do your homework by canvassing the prices of the merchandise you need from your suppliers. Now if your brand of choice proves to be a little expensive for you, then do not be afraid to try products of the not – so popular brands. Who knows? They may actually perform a lot better compared to their competitors.
