Just Getting Started Water Skiing

If you are an experienced water skier teaching a newbie, you need to give them a chance to figure out the basics, before you throw them to the sharks. Get them in the shallow end of the water, or in a pool. Start by giving them a chance to get used to the water skis, and how to control them in the water. This way, they will feel more comfortable, and they won’t be fighting the skis when they are in a sticky situation. Once they are comfortable with the skis on, use the ski rope to teach them how to pull up safely, and balance on their water skis once they are up. When everyone feels comfortable, then it is time to head to the deeper waters, and really start having some fun.
