For most couples the news that mom is expecting and a baby will soon be added to their family is exciting, but the excitement really kicks into high gear once the ultrasound reveals the baby’s gender. Knowing that the baby is indeed a girl leads to plans for the nursery and usually to thoughts of pink. While pink is traditional and certainly a great color for girls, don’t rush into a decision before considering the many other options that are equally great for a baby girl’s nursery.

While using white in a nursery may be just as traditional as pink, an all white nursery can be a heavenly and extremely feminine room. Many baby bedding manufacturers offer bedding in all white sets that feature creative use of fabrics that add texture and dimension to the set. Ribbons, ruffles and lace embellishments add to the feminine look and announce this is a girl’s room in an understated and elegant way.

If you think all white is too boring how about combing it with black. There is nothing boring about a room decorated in black and white. Whether you choose a french country style decor with black and white toile crib bedding, a ladybug bedding set that adds red to the mix or something with a contemporary twist like an abstract black and white print crib bedding. Regardless of your choice, the nursery will make a bold statement.

Lavender is another choice that is popular for baby girls. You can find really pretty bedding using lavender as the predominate color. Lavender fabric selections in various prints and solids in a choice of themes including floral prints, dragonflies and butterflies are easily found. Lavender combined with green is really pretty as is lavender combined with that traditional girly pink.

I love pink and pink nurseries, but if you want something a little different, there are many other color choices that work equally well.
