Good Reasons to Buy a Hand Juicer
There are many great healthy juices you can easily make at home to improve your diet. The only hardware you need is a juicer machine capable of processing the ingredients you choose to use.
Although there are many good electric juicers available, there may be a good reason for you to choose a manual juicer instead. This means you will provide the power yourself – either by turning a crank handle round and round, or with a pull down lever.
Before you turn away thinking that a hand juicer is old fashioned or too hard to use, take a moment to consider some of the advantages.
First, if you are only making juice for yourself and don’t need great quantities, there may simply be no need for an electric juicer. Sure, these powered machines are faster, but they also take longer to set up, take apart, and clean and put away. The time you save in processing can quickly be lost again when spending more time on these other tasks.
This point is particularly true if you are making wheat grass juice, which is commonly only drunk in small 30ml shots – taking only about 2 minutes with even a small hand juicer.
Another really good application of a manual mechanism is in juicing citrus fruits. Norpco and Metrokane are well known manufacturers of upright citrus press juicers, which are potentially faster to use than electric juicers are. All it takes is a quick pull on the easy to use lever, and you can crush every last drop out of halves of orange, grapefruit or lemons and limes.
Of course one of the reasons to buy a hand juicer is that it is generally cheaper than a machine that is built around an electric motor. So consider before you buy whether a manual modle might not be best for you.
