So many people worry constantly about the rapidly deteriorating quality of cooking and drinking water in their town that it generally makes sense to gain some peace of mind by installing some kind of water cleaning system.  One option is a whole house water filter.  In this article, we’ll take a look at how this kind of system functions, what it can do for your water, and what features you should be looking for.

First of all, a whole house water filter is simply a centralized filtration unit that connects up to your house’s main water line, cleaning the incoming water that is eventually sent to all the water dispenser outputs in your house, including sinks, bathtubs, etc.

How does such a unit work?  This will really depend on where you live and thus what kinds of contamination you are dealing with.  In other words, don’t buy a water filter until you know what it is you are trying to filter out!  For instance, some places have issues with typical stuff like sediment, chlorine content, odd tastes and odors, etc.  Other locations will require more specific filtration.  Do your due diligence and be sure to research what the typical water problems are in your area.
