When an elbow becomes inflamed due to injury from a physical activity, it is because of a condition called lateral epicondylitis, mainly referred to as tennis elbow. This injury is mainly characterized by pain on the outer side of elbow joints that can spread to other parts of the arm as far as the shoulder and the wrist.
