Making money is not just for adults. Why not have some fun with your kids and teach them how to be an entrepreneur? This not only is a bonding experience with your children, it can be a real learning experience as well. After all, kids have just about everything they want. I guess it is our way as parents to provide a better life than what we had. Anyway, if you open the door at an early age and teach how tough it is to make a dollar, they will start to understand the value of things.

Here are some kids’ money making ideas: How about a garage sale? Clean out their bedrooms and collect the stuffed animals, toys, games and books that they either outgrew or just got bored with. Advertise in the paper that you are having a garage sale. Involve the kids in setting prices on each item and then marking them. It is a lot of hard work setting up tables and putting all your wares on them. When the garage sale is over, teach them how to count money and see how much they generated. Then of course, all the tables need to be put away and the items that didn’t sell put in a special box. They will need to pay you for the ad to realize sometimes there is a cost to doing business. The remaining portion is theirs to keep.

Some of the things left could be given to the library, a day care center, or to a shelter for battered women that have children. Now not only did they learn how to make money, but they learned how to help others who are less fortunate. They not only learned the monetary value of items that they have, but they also learn the value of giving.

Plus after all is said and done, you had fun with your kids and they will never forget the experience.
