As  a knife collector I have learned a few things over the years on which type of knives perform the best, and which ones are the most sought after. I started collecting knives when I was 13 years old, and realized very quickly that I was going to be able to do something I like, and also maybe at some point down the road have something of value.

I started out with you basic cheap swap meet knives, that ether were made in China or just some type of a knock off. When I was 15 I was given a Benchmade Butterfly knife from a family friend, and to me this was the best knife I had in my collection at that time. Now I had a few cheap butterfly knives but nothing like a Benchmade knife. I knew a little bit about the company from doing some research on them. They originally started out in California, and quickly realizing that they could save a ton of money, they moved the business to Organ were it still produces knives till this day.

As a knife collector I have always been fascinated with the butterfly knife, and how it functions. I learn to “flip” when I was young, that a term for opening and closing the knife. When you collect anything you find your favorites or the item that best holds your interest the most. For me I realized that butterfly knives were my top choice. I am well in my 30’s now, and I still love to go to the knife shows, and purchase a new one every now and then, but I really like sharing the passion I have with my son, in hopes that he would pass on the same to his son, and if not at least we found something that we both enjoyed together.
