New Hair Implants Technique For Women
Hair implant therapy has been utilized to treat male pattern baldness for years. In fact, the first hair implants were performed back in the 1950′s. At that time the surgical techniques available did not offer procedures which would give a very natural looking result.
The term “Hair Plugs” was used to describe this process because a round plug of scalp with hair growth was removed from the back of the head and then implanted into the balding spot at the crown area or near the forward hair line. As you can imagine this did not look very natural as the patient ended up with tufts of hair growing every which way. In fact, for years most people weren’t even interested in hair implants.
Over the years micro-surgical techniques were improved and new processes utilized until the hair implantation procedure for men now results in a very natural looking head of hair. The problem is, this did not help women with hair loss problems because of the different way women’s hair reacts to the most common cause of balding, Androgenic Alopecia. When this condition affects men it generally causes localized hair loss at the hair line and on the vertex or crown of the scalp. This leaves a good area of hair growth at the back of the head which can be utilized as a donor site. Hair follicles can be removed from this area without it being very noticeable.
Women, on the other hand, will usually see hair thinning over their entire scalp instead of just in localized areas. This means there is no good donor site because if hair follicles are removed from one area it just makes that part of the scalp look thinner. This has now been remedied with a procedure known as direct hair implantation. This procedure allows for the removal of body hairs to be implanted into the scalp. These hairs work very well as fillers because they are coarser than the normal scalp hair.
If you are a woman facing hair thinning problems then consult your physician about this final fix for your problems.
