Options in Carport and Garage Shelters
Having a carport garage is a lot better for your car than simply parking it outdoors. Sun, rain, and snow all take a toll on your vehicle, no matter what type you have.
Carports and garages are quite different; having a garage offers certain advantages that carports do not, such as having a locking door that will keep thieves at bay. In addition, while some carports will have three walls and then an open door (that can not be locked or secured) many carports are simply posts and a roof on top. However, carport garages are a good investment of money if you do not have a garage on your property. In addition, outdoor shelters add to the value of your house so even if you plan to sell the house in the future, carports, garages, or storage sheds are a good investment.
Before you start researching on carports you should check and see if you would need a building permit to build one on your property. Often you do not, depending on how close the carport is built to the house and where you live. Building laws differ a lot and you will have to look into the ones that apply to your neighborhood.
If you are looking to cut costs then getting a prefab carport is a good idea, because they are relatively easy to set up yourself. A lot of the cost of getting a carport or garage is in having a contractor and team of builders come out to your place and build it for you, so getting one that is a do it yourself job automatically cuts that cost. Prefab carports are made from different materials. The ones made from canopy cloth are the cheapest and easiest to set up, however, the cloth only lasts about five years and then needs replacing so you might find it simpler and cheaper in the end to get a carport made from more durable material, such as metal or wood.
