A lot of people become so enchanted with the idea of quitting their job and started a home based business that they fail to see the potential down falls of such a move. Who hasn’t had the fantasy of being their own boss and making their own hours? Also, the easier the business is to start, the less time people spend on a working business plan and this is especially true of vending. I mean, what’s to know? You buy some machines, you slap them in locations and you start making money. What could be easier? To be successful you need to fully understand the pros and cons of vending.

Some of the pros:

  1. It’s an easy business to start.
  2. You get to be your own boss.
  3. Yes, you get to make your own hours.
  4. It can be started with very little cash.
  5. It’s easy to start part time while you keep your current job.

Some of the cons:

  1. It’s an easy business to start = lots of competition.
  2. You get to be your own boss = you’re to blame if you fail.
  3. Yes, you get to make your own hours = you need to be good at time management.
  4. It can be started with very little cash = lots of competition.
  5. It’s easy to start part time while you keep your current job = your business will grow very sloooow.

This is just to give you a quick overview of what to expect. Sure, it’s great to have the dream of becoming a vending machine business owner, but a lot of times the dream may not match the reality. It requires a lot of time and money to get a route big enough to replace a full time income. Bear in mind that you’ll need about 500 machines to make decent money and this will take a sizeable amount of cash, plus the time involved in getting them placed. The more realistic you are in your business plan, the better your chances of success.
