Normally the best way to lose weight is slowly, over time. That way you can be sure that you are staying healthy, that you are eating a balanced diet and that your body has time to adjust to the weight loss. However, there are times when you need or would like to lose weight fast fast naturally, and it is indeed possible to do so.

The worst way to do this is to go on a fad diet, such as the cabbage diet, or any other diet that severely restricts your intake of calories (and sometimes your intake of other things, such as protein, as well.) When you go on a fad diet you do indeed lose pounds quickly, but most people find that they put them on just as fast after the diet is over again. Thus the weight loss is not sustained.  The same can be said for diet pills as well. While they may work to some extent, the effects are generally fairly short lived. Some can actually be more damaging to your health than helpful as well, so it is best to try other methods first.

If you want to drop three to four pounds a week you are going to have to  take serious action. First of all, you will need to restrict your caloric intake to a moderate level. Around 1200 calories is good for women, and 1500 for men. Less than this can cause you to be overly tired and worn out.  Another thing you should do, when limiting your calories, is make sure that your diet remains healthful. Eat sufficient protein, and a good amount of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Finally, the best thing to really trim and firm is a rigorous exercise program. It should consist of both weight training and cardiovascular exercise. The weight training is good for building muscle mass which in turn helps you to burn more calories even when not exercising.  Cardiovascular exercise is great for burning calories, and some of the best exercises are those that really get your heart pumping, such as jogging, bike riding, swimming and even fast walking.

If you combine reduced calorie intake with a vigorous exercise program you should have little problem losing weight fast. And the great thing about losing weight this way is that it will stay off for much longer.
