Wondering if you should take the plunge and transform yourself into a redhead, by trying red hair color dye? Some people hesitate, worrying that the change in their appearance would be too great or that they would have to totally redo their wardrobe and their makeup as a result. While it is true that redheads do look better wearing some colors than others and that they generally stick to a specific set of colors when it comes to their makeup, there is no reason that changing your hair color must be that radical.

It is usually recommended, when dyeing your hair, that you simply dye it one or two shades lighter or darker than your normal coloring. The reason this suggestion is put forth has to do with your natural skin tone. Usually your natural coloring and your hair coloring match, in that it is uncommon to see a person with very dark hair and pale skin coloring. That is not to say that it does not happen, but it is far more natural to see a natural brunette with medium to dark skin tones.

If you would like to try a red hair color you can do so without having to alter your entire appearance by choosing red hair colors that are just a shade or two lighter or darker than you naturally are. For example, if you are naturally a blond, you would not necessarily want to suddenly sport dark auburn hair. While it may look very striking chances are that it would not suit your natural skin tones that well and it may give you a pale, washed out appearance. Instead you should experiment with the softer strawberry blonds, or light auburns. Using the same reasoning, if you are naturally a brunette, turning strawberry blond may not suit you at all. It is actually quite difficult to successfully go from a dark hair shade to a light color unless you first bleach your hair in any case. Doing that too often can end up ruining your hair, thus it is much better to try to stick with your natural shades even if you do change the actual color of your hair.
