Led (light emitting diodes) lights are absolutely the best lights on the market today. Unfortunately, only the newest or custom designed trailers are manufactured using led technology for their trailer lights. All other trailers will need to be upgraded to use led lighting.

Led lights are brighter, more reliable, can easily last ten times longer and use less power than incandescent bulbs; and their solid state design makes them less vulnerable to road vibrations, bumps and weather. Their brighter illumination makes led lights easier to see at night and from greater distances, making them clearly the safer choice over standard lighting.

Updating your trailer to led can become a bit tricky and confusing. While many interior lights can be changed simply by installing new bulbs, exterior lighting can present some difficulties. Four way flashers and turn indicator units may need to be replaced in order for led lights to activate the flashers; some lights may require a change in contacts or wiring; and standard light covers with attached reflectors may need to be replaced and new reflectors added in order to maintain legal lighting requirements.

An led trailer lights guide will help to make the project of upgrading your trailer much easier. Each trailer manufacturer has its’ own lighting and wiring systems and often different trailers from the same manufacturer will have different systems. This can add to an already confusing situation; working for hours to upgrade your lighting system to find that nothing works properly can become a technical nightmare. Tearing apart a newly rewired system just to find out that the problem was as simple as needing to change a ground wire or use a different light, can be not only time consuming but extremely frustrating. Finding out your lights are not working properly because of the wrong light while on the road can be just plain dangerous.

Upgrading your present trailer lighting system to led is an important step to increasing safety on the road and being sure you are using the best, brightest and most efficient lights available. Using a trailer lighting guide can make the job easier and less complicated.
