What About Darts
Darts is a pub game that can be a sporty professional competition, especially in the UK where it originates. This game is seen by many as having a set targeted board design with a set of rules that are universal.
Prior to World War I dartboards in the UK were made from a solid block of wood. Eventually, someone came up with the idea of making the board out of sisal, which is an Agave plant that produces stiff fibers used in making ropes and twine. These fibers are bound together tightly into a compressed ring that is secured with metal. This format allows the points to enter without harming the target by just slipping between the fibers. Other darts equipment includes the darts themselves, consisting of flights, body and points. Good quality balanced darts can make a big difference to your game, but the cheap ones that often come with a darts board are enough to get you started.
A traditional game is usually played between 2 players where they start at set points and work there way down. In some games no scoring can begin without starting with a double. Other games include, Round the Clock, where the idea is to hit the numbers in order. The game called Fives is played on a board that has fewer targets that are bigger and scored as 5, 10, 15 and 20 points.
A game of accuracy called Shanghai is a challenge where getting doubles and triples are important for a victory. A standard version of this game is played in 7 rounds. In each round must play that section; round 1, section 1, round 2, section 2… Etc. While scoring is standard, only those points made from that rounds section are counted. The player with the most points at the end of 7 rounds is the winner. Score by hitting a triple, a double, and a single of the number being played and win instantly. The minimal space needed and reasonable prices for equipment make this a convenient sport for everyone.
