Why Never to Drop a Portable HP Printer
Owning HP portable printers entail responsibilities. One of them is keeping them safe. Being a portable printer, it has a higher risk of taking damage from bumping or dropping since you transport it on a regular basis. Why else would you buy a portable printer? Whether you’re taking the train, or on a bus, these transportations present scenarios where incidents are likely to occur. Just because portable printers are small, doesn’t mean that they take lesser or no damage when they fall. If the height of the fall is not high enough to cause total damage of the device, then there is a possibility that it will have other undesirable symptoms. As much as possible, we want to avoid dropping HP portable printers for a number of reasons.
Physical Damage
We will start with the physical damage that dropping a printer will cause. For this, let us assume that the printer is still operating, meaning no functions and features are compromised. However, there may be cracks or scratches that may prove unsightly.
Electrical shorting
When a device experiences a gravitational shock, some of their internal wiring may be dislodged. Even if the circuitry is embedded on printed circuit boards, there is still a possibility that they will come into contact with other metallic parts of the printer. If this happens, the printer itself is a potential hazard since some parts that come in contact with the dislodged conductors may be exposed. The printer may still be operating but it may cause electrical shock if you happen to touch these exposed metals.
Ink smudging
This is one of the most unpleasant outcomes when you drop a printer, especially if it uses ink technology. The impact itself may cause the ink cartridges to explode leaving ink droplets or traces on your trays or your automatic paper feeders. This will cause ink smudges that will recur on every page you will print afterwards. You will have to spend more money on having the internal parts of the printer cleaned. This is not exactly a safety hazard compared to our previous symptom, however, it is a potential for additional expense which nobody wants.
Warping and Misalignment
Just as unwanted as ink smudging, dropping your printer will cause dents or warping of your printer. You are lucky if the dent doesn’t really affect the performance of the printer. However, in some rare cases, it may cause misalignment when printing. Yes, there’s no smudging and there’s no deterioration in color quality, however the prints may come out skewed. If you’re using your printer just to print drafts, then there shouldn’t be a problem. However, if you happen to use your printer for a lot of professional printing, then this printer is just as good as a broken one.
We can go on and on discussing what reasons there are for not dropping HP portable printers. However, it all boils down to one thing. We must avoid dropping HP portable printers because it will damage them in one way or another.
